Create a new deal
1
Navigate to Setup in the Plomo dashboard
From the main dashboard, click New Deal or select Setup in the left navigation. This opens the deal creation form.
2
Name your deal
Enter a name in the Deal name field. This is the only required field. Use the target company’s name for straightforward engagements, or a project codename if confidentiality requires it — the name is encrypted and visible only to deal members.
3
Add a website (optional)
Enter the target company’s website URL if you have it. Plomo captures this for company context only — it does not crawl or index the site. You can leave this blank and add it later from deal settings.
4
Upload your information request (optional)
Upload your information request list as a DOCX or PDF file. Plomo reads the document and automatically extracts a taxonomy of categories tailored to the deal. If you don’t have an information request yet, skip this step — Plomo will apply a standard sell-side template so your workspace is ready immediately.
5
Click Create Deal
Click the Create deal button. Plomo takes you straight into the deal workspace — there is no separate taxonomy review step. Your categories are ready to use as soon as documents are uploaded.
The deal name and all uploaded filenames are encrypted and private to deal members. No one outside your invited team can see them.
What to do next
After creating your deal, you have three immediate options:Upload Documents
Add your data room files. Plomo processes and classifies them automatically.
Invite Collaborators
Add team members from the Deal Settings page. Each collaborator gets access to all documents, Copilot sessions, and the taxonomy for this deal.
Edit the Taxonomy
Adjust category names, descriptions, or structure at any time from Deal Settings → Taxonomy. Changes apply to subsequent classifications and can trigger reclassification of existing documents.
