A deal is the central workspace for a single M&A engagement in Plomo. Everything tied to that engagement — documents, classifications, taxonomy, Copilot sessions, and collaborators — lives inside the deal and is visible only to the team members you invite. Creating a deal is the first step before uploading any documents or running analysis.

Create a new deal

1

Navigate to Setup in the Plomo dashboard

From the main dashboard, click New Deal or select Setup in the left navigation. This opens the deal creation form.
2

Name your deal

Enter a name in the Deal name field. This is the only required field. Use the target company’s name for straightforward engagements, or a project codename if confidentiality requires it — the name is encrypted and visible only to deal members.
3

Add a website (optional)

Enter the target company’s website URL if you have it. Plomo captures this for company context only — it does not crawl or index the site. You can leave this blank and add it later from deal settings.
4

Upload your information request (optional)

Upload your information request list as a DOCX or PDF file. Plomo reads the document and automatically extracts a taxonomy of categories tailored to the deal. If you don’t have an information request yet, skip this step — Plomo will apply a standard sell-side template so your workspace is ready immediately.
5

Click Create Deal

Click the Create deal button. Plomo takes you straight into the deal workspace — there is no separate taxonomy review step. Your categories are ready to use as soon as documents are uploaded.
Upload your information request even if you plan to adjust the taxonomy later. Plomo uses it to give the category structure a meaningful head start, which reduces manual editing time.
The deal name and all uploaded filenames are encrypted and private to deal members. No one outside your invited team can see them.

What to do next

After creating your deal, you have three immediate options:

Upload Documents

Add your data room files. Plomo processes and classifies them automatically.

Invite Collaborators

Add team members from the Deal Settings page. Each collaborator gets access to all documents, Copilot sessions, and the taxonomy for this deal.

Edit the Taxonomy

Adjust category names, descriptions, or structure at any time from Deal Settings → Taxonomy. Changes apply to subsequent classifications and can trigger reclassification of existing documents.

Edit the taxonomy after creation

You are not locked into the taxonomy generated at deal creation. Open Deal Settings, select the Taxonomy tab, and add, rename, or remove categories as your understanding of the deal evolves. Editing a category description gives the classification model clearer guidance, which is especially useful if you notice documents landing in the wrong category.

Invite collaborators

Add team members by opening Deal Settings and selecting the Collaborators tab. Enter each person’s email address and assign their role. Collaborators can view and work with all deal content once they accept the invitation.
