How coverage works
When you create a deal, every request item in the taxonomy becomes a coverage item. Plomo tracks each one independently throughout the deal. As documents are classified, Plomo automatically suggests coverage links — if an incoming document’s classification matches a request item, coverage updates without any manual action from you. You can also make manual links yourself, add notes, or dismiss a suggestion if the AI got it wrong.Coverage statuses
Each request item carries one of three statuses:Received
At least one document has been mapped to this item — either by Plomo automatically or by a member of your team manually.
Pending
This item is expected but no document has been linked to it yet. It’s been flagged — perhaps you’ve sent a follow-up request or made a note.
Not Started
The item has not been received and no action has been taken. These are your true gaps.
Automatic coverage suggestions
When Plomo classifies a document, it compares the assigned category and subcategory against the request items in your taxonomy. If the classification maps to a specific item, Plomo creates a coverage suggestion — a proposed link between the document and that item. You’ll see these suggestions highlighted in the Coverage panel. You can:- Accept the suggestion to mark the item as received and link the document to it
- Dismiss the suggestion if the match is incorrect
- Edit the link to point to a different request item
Manual linking
You can manually link any document to any coverage item at any time. This is useful when a document covers multiple request items, when a file is intentionally kept uncategorized, or when you want to record receipt of something before classification is complete. To link a document manually, open the coverage item and select Link Document, then choose the relevant file from the deal’s document list.Coverage notes
Every coverage item has a free-text Notes field. Use it to record context that isn’t captured by a document link — for example:- “Requested 2024-01-15, target confirmed receipt and said to expect by end of week”
- “Item not applicable — target has no subsidiaries”
- “Received in redacted form — full version requested”
