# Ask Questions Across Deal Documents with Plomo Copilot

> Use Plomo's AI assistant to ask natural-language questions across all documents in a deal and get cited answers grounded in the corpus.

Copilot is Plomo's AI assistant, built specifically for due diligence work. Rather than searching document by document, you can ask Copilot a question in plain language and it searches across all classified documents in the deal, synthesizes the relevant information, and returns a direct answer with citations pointing back to the exact source pages. Every session is scoped to a single deal — Copilot never mixes context from other engagements.

## Open Copilot

Click the **Copilot** tab in the deal sidebar. If the deal has documents that are classified and indexed, Copilot is ready to answer questions immediately. For best results, wait until the bulk of your documents have finished processing before running your most important queries.

## Ask a question

Type your question in the input field using natural language — no special syntax, commands, or operators are required. Copilot interprets the intent of your question, retrieves the most relevant passages from across the deal corpus, and composes a grounded answer.

Every answer includes inline citations. Click any citation to open the source document directly in the document viewer, scrolled to the cited page. This lets you verify the answer in context without leaving the Copilot session.

## Example questions

The following examples give a sense of what Copilot handles well:

* Summarize the key findings across all financial documents
* Find any change of control or assignment clauses
* Which documents have low classification confidence?
* What are the main risks identified so far?
* List all subsidiaries mentioned in corporate governance documents

You can ask broad synthesis questions, targeted clause searches, deal-health checks, and anything in between. Copilot draws only on documents present in the current deal.

## Conversation history and named sessions

Copilot automatically saves your conversation history per deal. You can:

* **Name a session** — give the session a descriptive title (e.g., "IP & licensing review") so you can find it later
* **Revisit past sessions** — scroll through previous sessions from the Copilot sidebar to pick up where you left off
* **Share a session** — share any saved session with other deal collaborators so the whole team can see the questions asked and answers returned

Sessions are tied to the deal, not to individual users — a shared session is visible to any team member with deal access.

## Sharing Copilot sessions

To share a session with your team, open the session, click the **Share** icon in the session header, and confirm. Collaborators will see the full conversation including all questions, answers, and citations.

  Copilot works best after most documents in the deal are classified and indexed. The more of the corpus it can search, the more complete and accurate its answers will be. Run a quick upload-and-classify pass before kicking off a deep Copilot analysis.

<Note>
  Copilot answers are grounded exclusively in the documents inside the current deal. It will not speculate, draw on outside knowledge, or reference information from other deals. If something isn't in the corpus, Copilot will say so rather than guess.

## Deal isolation

Each Copilot session is strictly isolated to its deal. Asking the same question in two different deals can return different answers because each deal's corpus is independent. This isolation is intentional — it ensures that sensitive information from one engagement never surfaces in another.
