# Deals

> Understand how a deal connects sources, information requests, analysis, deliverables, and access.

A **deal** is the workspace for an engagement. It has a name, an optional target-company website, a request-list taxonomy, source documents, and the analysis and deliverables created from them.

## What belongs to a deal

| Component | Purpose |
| ------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Sources** | Uploaded documents, folders, working notes, and generated files. |
| **Taxonomy** | Categories and request items used for classification and coverage. |
| **Coverage Map** | Linked evidence, review status, assignees, and risk information for requests. |
| **Dealmate conversations** | Saved questions and analysis with source references. |
| **Deliverables** | Investment thesis, CIM and teaser drafts, writing references, and slide designs. |
| **Configuration and activity** | Access, automation settings, and a record of processing activity. |

The deal boundary keeps these resources associated with the correct engagement. Your active organization and access grants determine which deals you can open and which actions you can take.

## Create and work on a deal

Choose **New deal**, give the engagement a name, and use the standard request list or upload your own. You can select available organization teammates during setup. Plomo opens the workspace after creating the deal; request-list extraction can continue in the background.

Upload sources, inspect their classifications, and work through the Coverage Map. As evidence arrives, use Dealmate for analysis and Deliverables to build an investment thesis and presentation drafts.

## Collaborators and resource sharing

Authorized users can manage collaborators through **Configuration → Deal settings**. Access can come from an individual grant or organization access configured for the deal. Roles and capabilities control changes, downloads, exports, and access management.

Some resources have additional sharing controls. Dealmate conversations start with their owner and can be shared for collaborators to read. Notes and working files may be private or shared. Being able to open a deal does not mean every resource in it is automatically shared with you.

See [Dealmate sharing](/guides/copilot) and [security and access](/security/overview) for details. For target-company document collection, see the current [client portal availability](/guides/client-portal).
